Thanks for your enquiry regarding our new 2020 Friday Tai Chi Qigong class at Blackwater and Hawley Memorial Hall GU17 9BW
Because we attract a lot of enquiries each term (about 200!) it is getting increasingly difficult to answer everyone with a tailor made reply within the time available, so i have set out below the answers to the most frequently asked questions. Please take a moment to read through: If you still have a question at the end please supply it in the box provided.
This class runs on Fridays from 12.30-1.30pm starting on 10th January 2020, excluding closures (dates to be confirmed nearer the time) for Easter, Christmas, New Year and Summer breaks (usually August) and occasional closures due to snow / other holidays
The class is taught as a 'follow me' format with clear instructions. The teacher is Cherry Collins and occasionally Pat Bettridge. Both are qualified and insured instructors.
Suitable clothing is just your normal casual wear - trousers for ladies rather than skirts, and flat comfortable shoes.
No equipment or mats are required
All exercises are performed standing up
Both men and women attend the class
There is no upper or lower age limit for this class provided your present health allows you to stand and exercise gently for an hour
Exercise is slow, mindful and should be performed within your own comfort range
We don't offer a 'free trial' class nor do we allow people to watch, but if you'd like to know what sort of movement to expect just Google 'Tai Chi Video'
If you have a pre-existing health condition please note that we cannot offer you any advice on the suitability of the class for you, since we are not your doctor. We assume that you will have checked with your doctor regarding the type and level of exercise you can do and will adapt the movements to suit your present health.
If you are a smoker we ask that you don't smoke in the car on the way to class, nor outside before coming in and that you wear smoke-free clothes to make it an uplifting experience for everyone. We have had to add this clause as several participants have mentioned that standing next to someone who smells of stale cigarettes for an hour is not an uplifting experience.
Please don't touch anything in the hall, including moving chairs or tables / touching electrical equipment etc. Please ask a member of staff if you need to move something.
Payment for classes:
New joiners need to register in advance and pay for their first three classes at a slightly discounted rate of £20 (usually £7 per class) in order to secure a place in the class. We will send you payment details after you submit this form. This fee is non-refundable should you change your mind for whatever reason. This is to prevent places being held for people who fail to attend and who don't answer emails after asking us to keep a weekly place in the class for them.
After your first three weeks you can just pay when you come each week, £7 or if you decide it's not for you we'd really appreciate it if you'd let us know that you won't be attending anymore so someone else can benefit from the place.
If you'd like to attend, please complete the rest of this form - ALL fields must be completed apart from 'any other questions' or else you won't be able to submit the form, if you still have problems email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
